In Memory of

Patricia Fuller

Pat’s life should never be defined by the illness she endured. It was much more than that it was a life surrounded by and full of love. A love of family and of close friends. And that’s how her life will ultimately be remembered.

Pat never wanted for anything she had everything she ever wanted in life except for that one special commodity; a little more time.

The story of Patricia Fuller

Patricia Andrew was Born on 6th of June 1948 in Grimsby to parents Harry Andrew and Gladys Andrew. She shared a birthday with her Dad and she had one sister Julie. Pat grew up in Grimsby attending South parade school, Armstrong Street school, then Chelmsford.
During Pat’s childhood she loved Sea cadets and loved swimming. She was taught to swim by local legend Brenda Fisher who broke the record for swimming the English Channel. Her dad used to take her swimming all the time to Orwell street baths and she would often take part in contests.

She was to meet the love of her life Ron while she worked at FINA garage. Ron was into motorbikes and he used to chat all the time at the garage. He once saw her at the bus stop on the way home on his motorbike and he offered her a lift home. He took her home and that was that! Their relationship flourished from that point on and Pat became a permanent feature on the back of Ron’s bike.

Ron and Pat were married at St. James church on the 3rd of June 1967. They were blessed with 3 children Dawn, Richard and Glenn.

Pat loved the outdoors and adventuring with Ron. Climbing Ben Nevis was one of Pat’s proudest achievements. Ron and Pat eventually got a static caravan in Youlgreave in the Peak District just near Bakewell. This was her happy place where she spent at least 25 beautiful summers creating happy memories.

Pat loved her Photography. She took some fantastic photos of all family occasions, even giving the professional photographers some tips at times!

As her family grew Pat took great joy in documenting every tiny milestone in their lives.

Pat was a much loved nurturing figure to many people over the years, she was affectionately known as Aunty Pat.

Sadly Pat battled Four different cancers throughout her life, first being diagnosed at aged 35. In spite of all this she never once complained. Showing fantastic strength, character and resilience. Amazingly she always classed herself as lucky even though she had to endure gruelling chemotherapy treatment three times. She was a real trooper who never gave up. After the last prognosis she said I’ll show the buggers! She ended up outliving the best prognosis by 6 months!

Sadly she never got to see Christmas, but she ensured everything was in place for her beloved family to enjoy Christmas which was typical of her. In spite of what she may have been going through, Pats caring nature always shone through, and she put everyone’s needs before her own.
Her family cared for her during her last weeks and she was surrounded by her loving family when she was sadly taken from us on Sunday the 15th of December. Pat was an exceptional woman who I have been honoured to learn all about. Her attitude, in spite of all her trials and tribulations is truly inspiring and is certainly an example to us all.

She was a devoted wife of Ronald. Much loved mum of Dawn, Richard and Glenn, mother-in-law of Caroline, Treasured Nanna of Paige. A much-missed sister of Julie, a beloved Aunt, cousin, and friend to many. The world is undoubtedly a poorer place with Pat no longer in it and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Thank you for taking the time learning about Pat, please enjoy your stay looking out at one of her favourite places.
