The story of Kerry Waters

Kerry Waters was the beloved head teacher at Pontnewydd Primary School. He served at the school for 16 years and was well respected and much-loved by the pupils, staff and wider community. From taking his favourite Friday celebration assemblies to cleaning the lunchtime tables, Kerry was dedicated to every aspect of the school. He would ask the children what he loved the most, knowing they would respond ‘smiles’. His high expectations ensured staff and pupils gave their best and this was echoed in how he approached his role. His close relationship with the chair of Governors, provided the school with a clear vision to achieve the school motto ‘Nurture, Inspire, Achieve’, with wellbeing at the heart of school life. He will be missed but remembered for the wonderful contribution he made to this community.
