Katie fought a year long battle with an aggressive rare blood cancer called Burkitts Lymphoma.

She was taken very ill out of the blue in March 2025 and was admitted into intensive care at UCLH hospital where she spent close to 4 months in an induced coma in ICU, before a further 5 months on the specialist haematology wards at UCLH London.

After many rounds of chemotherapy, and at the end of a trial drug treatment, she sadly lost her battle on 25th February 2026, leaving a big hole in all our hearts.

Kate especially loved working at Ocado, and used to ride her bike to work very early in the morning, in all weathers. She loved being here and loved the colleagues that she had around her, she had finally found her “place” where she enjoyed working, and would have been happy here for many years.

Those that knew Kate would know what a funny and caring girl she was. Yes at times her autism shone through to add a little bluntness or sarcasm, but you always knew where you stood with Kate, by her either telling you or from the expression on her face!

Those that knew her well would know she was fiercely loyal and generous, and she would do anything for anyone that cared about her.

Whilst in hospital she shaved her head for the Little Princess Trust, raising over £8k, which is added to subsequent fundraising that close friends and family have carried out to raise an additional £20k for Lymphoma related charities, which is a lasting legacy for Kate that will continue on.

She leaves us all empty, but with the knowledge that she is now resting without pain, and looking down on us all with a tequila sunrise and her vape in hand – which is why this bench has been placed in the smoking area as its probably the place you met and got to know our Katie.

Kate loved Lilo and Stitch, so the words on this bench pretty much sum the situation up.
