Duncan had an appreciation for life and embraced it every day. He was kind, loving and warm, had a huge personality and a great sense of humour. He lived life to its fullest. Duncan enjoyed sport and could turn his hand to most but his passion was rugby. Whether playing, watching at Murrayfield or at home, usually emotional when shouting at the players, referee or TV.

Largs held a special place in Duncan’s heart. It gave him the perfect balance of the people he loved and the activities that brought him joy: from swimming in the Clyde and walking the hills, to cycling the surrounding routes and keeping active in the gym.

Travelling abroad was also a favourite pastime; he liked the sun on his skin and to listen to his eclectic playlist. His greatest quality, however, wasn’t where he went or what he did; it was how he treated people. Duncan saw the best in everyone, he was patient, loyal, and caring.

A devoted family man, Duncan loved spending time with those closest to him, especially Ange and Sami. He enjoyed meeting up with his extended family, affectionately known as the ‘big family’ or ‘camping crew’. There were plenty of celebrations, cheeseboards to share, and a few glasses of red wine, with Duncan always at the heart of the party. Time and memories he cherished.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Duncan threw himself whole heartedly into fund raising for charities. He organised and took part in lots of events to raise awareness for causes close to his heart, including:- SNAC, 100 day dook, Pink Aerobics, SAMH Stomp, tough mudder, numerous Cancer research events and Sport relief to name a few. Whatever the challenge he approached it with energy, commitment and more importantly with a smile on his face. He was a true action man, who led by example and inspired others to do the same.

Duncan loved his job in the fitness industry. He had the ability to make a difference to peoples health and wellbeing. Through his infectious enthusiasm, he encouraged countless people to become stronger and more confident, whether at the gym or one of his infamous fitness classes. He had a unique gift of motivating during exercise, making it fun. He transformed lives, quite literally saving them. His positivity and support left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate to have known him. He created a legacy that will never be forgotten.

This is the place Duncan chose to be remembered. He loved looking across the marina, the Clyde and Arran beyond. As you sit here, taking in the view: think of him, his smile, his kindness, his strength and his unwavering love for family and friends. His memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his impact will continue to be felt for many years to come.
