David was a football fanatic who loved Tottenham ,Spurs was his team since he was a boy & both sons & GRANDAUGHTER follow also David played for Upper Annandale football club & Moffat Thistle until retiring from it at 37. He missed his football terribly.

David loved his holidays abroad, going with family & friends often twice a year so he was able to do this for many years & great memories for all of us. His last family holiday in 2024 touring Scotland in a huge motorhome was fun & knowing it would be his last was very poignant.

He was a very healthy man until one week in April 2010 he complained of bad headaches to the point he passed out with them. He was taken to hospital & the family were told he had a Mass on his brain they would have to operate on. After 9 months David returned to work but had to have Chemo & 30 days Radiation, the Chemo went on for 9yrs as more & more tumours grew until they finally stopped it in 2024. David’s son Darren lives in Perth Australia & his Consultant told him if he wanted to fly to Australia he would have to go that yr (2017) he had the best time ever & spoke about it often. 15yrs from the start of his brain cancer he started to deteriorate & cancer won .

David’s son Glenn has for many years ran marathons for McMillan, Brain Tumours & Headway. He has raised money for a bench in Beattock football park in memory of dad where as a youngster he would watch his dad play every week in all weathers. Saying he won’t stop raising money for brain cancer until they find a cure.

Some of David’s ashes are now spread in the Indian Ocean near Fremantle Australia the place he loved. Dade was our family hero who showed bravery, strength & determination throughout his 15yrs of illness not letting it get him down, he soldiered on to the very end.

Thankyou for the wonderful life, we so miss now here without you in it, we talk of you all the time you will never be forgotten .
